Joe Vinso

Joseph D. Vinso, Ph.D., MCBA, FIBA, ASA

Tenure on Board: 10 years
Dr. Vinso taught finance at The Wharton School and the University of Southern California, and served as the Donald and Carol Jean Byrnes professor of finance and accounting at the University of Montana. He is the president of Financial Resources Management – a firm specializing in financial valuations. As well as being widely published, Joseph has provided expert testimony to the United States Senate; United States District Courts (California, Arizona, Montana, Michigan); United States Bankruptcy Courts (Pennsylvania, California); California Superior Courts; the District Courts of Nevada, Indiana and Montana; the United States Tax Court; U.S. Corps of Engineers, Board of Contract Appeals; and the Tribal Court of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes. Within the investment industry, Dr. Vinso previously was a Registered Principal (NASD) and Registered Investment Advisor (California, Nevada and Montana), and passed the Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65 tests.
Education: B. Chem. E., from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (1964); MBA from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan (1970); Ph.D. in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan (1973).
Community Involvement: Rotary Club of Missoula, past director; Rotary District 5390, past SG chair; Court Appointed Special Advocates, past treasurer; and Big Sky Aphasia Program, University of Montana, treasurer.

Dirk Cooper, CPA

Tenure on Board: 10 years
Mr. Cooper is president and CEO at Hi-Noon Petroleum, Inc., a company with over $80 million of annual revenues. His responsibilities include overseeing the company’s operations and financial activities, including wholesale and retail fuel operations in Montana and Idaho. Prior to joining Hi-Noon in 2003, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant for the international firm KPMG in Portland, Oregon. One of Mr. Cooper’s areas of expertise is auditing and consulting with broker-dealers and large investment fund managers on the West Coast.
Education: B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Montana, Missoula (1990).
Community Involvement: Former treasurer for the International Choral Festival; singer with the Missoula Symphony Chorale.

Michael F. Kleese

Tenure on Board: 10 years
After years of public and private law practice in Indiana and Montana, in 1980 Mr. Kleese joined First American and managed its office in Hamilton, Montana, until 1988; thereafter he managed its Missoula office until 1993. In addition, he was state manager and state legal counsel for First American Title Insurance Company in Montana. He has presented numerous seminars on title insurance, 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges and related topics. Mr. Kleese was a member of the state Milk Control Board, having been appointed by four different Montana governors. He was an approved instructor for the Montana Association of Realtors, a guest lecturer at the University of Montana School of Law, and has testified as an expert witness in a number of litigated cases. Mr. Kleese was honored as “Executive of the Year” for 2002 by the Montana Land Title Association and was a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
Education: B.S. (1970), Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana (1973).

Dr. Bruce A. Costa

Tenure on Board: 1 year
Dr. Costa is a Professor of Finance at the University of Montana, Missoula, and has taught courses in corporate finance and personal finance at both the graduate and undergraduate level for the past 14 years. He also serves as Chair of the University of Montana Department of Accounting and Finance. His research work focuses on the risk-adjusted returns of actively managed portfolios and has published numerous times on the subject. Dr. Costa served 13 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot, test pilot and assistant navigator aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60) and is a Gulf War veteran.
Education: B.S. in Industrial Engineering/Operations, magna cum laude with honors, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts (1979); Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a support in Econometrics from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida (2000).
Community Involvement: Served on Strikers Soccer Board, 2006-2010; Board Member and Treasurer. Accomplished landscape fine art photographer.
